At Valley Light Center for Social Advancement, the word “disabled,” meaning “broken,” does not apply to the population we serve. We prefer the term having a “challenge,” meaning “One’s determination to overcome a difficult situation.” We have found that the way in which you define an individual will be a determining factor in the outcome of the challenges set before them.

The population we serve is eager to meet their individual goals as we assist, encourage, and celebrate their achievements. And it doesn’t stop there. Exploring new techniques for comprehensive learning is an ongoing commitment at VLC. We believe that individuals with challenges never stop learning, and the team here at VLC will never stop teaching.
